Trout Fishing Just outside the front door of your Chasing Rainbows Cabin (on the left edge of the picture) is Helton Creek, a native trout stream. Whether you are a veteran or a beginner, you will enjoy a private 1500' section of Helton Creek all to yourself to enjoy fly fishing. And it has some big rainbows in it! Being a native stream, it is not stocked and is restricted to catch & release and using only artificial bait with a single hook.
Unfortunately, Chasing Rainbows cannot provide a fishing license for you. You must purchase one before you arrive. For your convenience, you can purchase licenses online at the Virginia Dept of Game & Inland Fisheries and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (888-248-6834) (Click the links to purchase license.) No fishing license is needed June 16th through September 30. License is needed October 1 through June 15. There are numerous streams in the area for trout fish (with owner's permission). Also, Chasing Rainbows is only 1.5 miles from North Carolina. The following is a directory of trout streams just across the VA/NC state line in Ashe County, NC. Other directories will be added as we learn of them.
